MARINA

Steps from the sand, this Southern California beach house is a home-away-from-home for a couple whose main home base is near the East Coast. These empty-nesters wanted a sunny seaside getaway that struck a balance between a familiar aesthetic and a California vibe, for their frequent trips to visit their Los Angeles-based adult children.

The client’s love of blue & brass set the foundation for many of the design decisions. The soothing blue backdrop dovetailed nicely with the desire for a traditional coastal aesthetic—but one with a slightly contemporary edge. Vintage Italian furnishings pair with beadboard cabinetry, traditional millwork, wide plank white oak floors, honed marble, abstract art and subtle nods to nautical moments. Elegant material selections, including Pierre Frey wallcoverings, Farrow & Ball paint, Waterworks plumbing fittings and Urban Electric Co. lighting add a refined touch to this marina residence.
