Custom Sophisticated Master BathroomA striking and sublime master bedroom with contrasting finishes and materials. His and her sinks on a custom vanity on legs in a blackened wood finish. The custom black wood cabinetry, blackened by torching in shou sugi ban technique, pops against bright white walls and white marble countertop. Unlacquered brass hardware and wall-mounted sink faucets from Waterworks warm the space. Vanity lighting consists of three modern sconces from Urban Electric. Mid-Century Open Plan Living RoomA bright living room flooded with natural light in this Silver Lake, Los Angeles home. A vaulted ceiling with exposed wood beams creates an expansive space open to the kitchen. All white walls are grounded with mid-century modern furniture and eclectic textiles. A cognac brown leather sofa, decorated with a mix of patterned pillows by Zak + Fox, sits opposite a mid-century wood coffee table. A pair of wood and glass top coffee tables from Martin & Brockett sit on an ethnic vintage rug from Jamal Rugs Collection in West Hollywood. Black and white abstract art from Tim Forcum is mixed with framed photography. A modern blue & copper mushroom table lamp sits on a lacquered arcade console from Martin & Brockett. A pair of mid-century wood armchairs with tufted gray upholstery from Hollywood at Home sit in front of a bay window. Overhead lighting consists of Schoolhouse electric brass wall sconces and a five-arm black and wood ceiling light fixture. Roman Clay Fireplace with Soft NeutralsA focal point fireplace in a California living room. The black wall is painted in Portola Paints Roman Clay finish. Soft and light neutral tones are bright set against the dark fireplace. A reading nook was created by a built-in bench seat with a soft cushion, print pillows and an articulating sconce in brass and rattan. A vintage area rug accents the peach, tan and ivory colors. Glimpses of gilded touches, found on lighting, planters and framing, impart a richness to the space. The earthy moss green modern velvet chairs ground and balance the glam vibes.
