Montecito Interior Design Services

Tucked between the Santa Ynez mountains and the Pacific, Montecito offers a natural sense of serenity, paired with a storied architectural legacy. Our studio works with clients in Montecito and the surrounding Santa Barbara County region to create interiors that reflect both the landscape and the lives unfolding within.

Whether reimagining a Spanish Revival estate, modernizing a ranch-style property, or furnishing a newly constructed retreat, we approach each home with care, creativity, and a refined point of view.

Design That Honors Setting and Soul

Montecito’s architectural heritage includes the influence of George Washington Smith, Lutah Maria Riggs, and other masters of the Spanish Colonial Revival movement. Whitewashed stucco, arched openings, handmade tile, and ironwork all play a role in the language of local homes—and we consider these elements not as constraints, but as a source of inspiration.

Our designs embrace this heritage while introducing softness and ease—pairing natural materials with sculptural forms, and layering tonal palettes with patina and texture. Every space is shaped by the belief that homes should feel rooted, refined, and emotionally resonant.

A Personalized, Full-Service Approach

Our full-service interior design offering is tailored to each client and property. From initial concept through final installation, we lead with a hands-on, collaborative process—working closely with homeowners, architects, builders, and craftspeople to ensure a cohesive result.

While our process is highly structured, it’s also designed to be adaptable, allowing us to meet the unique needs of each project. Whether we're engaged during architectural planning, brought in post-construction to complete the interiors, or managing a furnishings-focused scope, we follow a clear, phased approach that ensures clarity, cohesion, and thoughtful results.

We work with both local clients and those who reside elsewhere but are designing vacation or second homes in Montecito. Many of our clients entrust us with the full process, allowing us to oversee sourcing, logistics, and on-site execution with discretion and care.

Interior Architecture & Renovation Expertise

When a project includes renovation or new construction, we provide detailed interior architecture support. This may include space planning, elevation drawings, materials specifications, and construction documentation. Our team also coordinates directly with trades and builders during construction, ensuring the design intent is carried through.

Our role continues through procurement and installation, allowing us to maintain visual and functional continuity from first sketch to final styling.

Furnishings & Finishing Layers

For homes that don’t require major renovation, we offer furnishing and decoration services. These projects are no less layered. We develop mood boards, palettes, and floor plans before curating furnishings, textiles, artwork, and accessories—often blending antique pieces, contemporary selections, and custom designs crafted in collaboration with our network of artisans.

The result is an interior that feels effortless and entirely personal, infused with a quiet luxury that suits the Montecito sensibility.

A Reputation Built on Trust & Editorial Recognition

Our work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, Homes & Gardens UK, California Home & Design, The Wall Street Journal, and more. Stefani Stein has been named one of the Top 25 Interior Designers in Los Angeles by the Los Angeles Times, with projects spanning Southern California, including the Santa Barbara and Montecito regions.

We’re known for a layered, collected aesthetic, rooted in architectural context and executed with clarity and care.

Your Montecito Retreat, Reimagined

We welcome the opportunity to help you create a Montecito home that feels considered, composed, and connected to its surroundings. Whether it’s a historic estate or a coastal hideaway, our full-service process is designed to bring comfort, meaning, and timeless design to every detail.
