Home Renovations & Remodeling
Whether you are looking to do a superficial refresh or comprehensive home renovation, Stefani Stein, Inc. offers a range of interior design services, working with clients nationwide from start to finish on home renovation and remodeling projects.
We strive to create spaces that allow our clients to live well-crafted lives. Our extensive expertise has been gained over time, working with clients looking to honor their home’s authentic details and architectural history while simultaneously integrating finishes that feel both classic and current. We also often work with clients seeking to infuse character, personality, and quality into homes that may have been recently renovated or flipped by a builder.
If a client’s home feels outdated, nonfunctional, or perhaps isn’t the right aesthetic for a client’s style or personality, a complete remodel (or even a partial renovation) can not only bring joy and improve a client’s life quality but also typically increases a property’s value.
Why hire an interior designer for your home renovation project?
Any homeowner with a suitable budget will benefit tremendously by investing in interior design services, ideally at the beginning of the project. Not only do we bring a trained aesthetic eye and vision to the project, but we also work with homeowners on both budgeting and contractor selection. We typically have our preferred and vetted trade resources, construction resources, and subcontractors that we are able to refer for clients’ home remodeling projects.
There is something to be said for the old adage of measuring twice and ordering once. We are trained to see the potential of a space, understand the ideal flow, what original details and elements to save, and what to update. The margin of error on all facets of a project is substantially reduced when working with an interior designer. This ensures the client’s investment is more likely to yield a better result.
Additionally, our home renovation services include creating a detailed drawing and elevations package, which the contractors use to bid and execute the designs. Working with a contractor that follows the plans provided by the designer can avoid costly mistakes, change orders, and delays during construction. This also allows the clients to visualize and approve designs prior to construction commencement.
Another frequent pitfall we help our clients avoid is scope creep. What may seem like a small change or simple request can sometimes have unintended consequences. Homeowners sometimes focus on a specific issue, not necessarily the big picture, and they don’t always understand the ripple effect of a change request. While we can’t always prevent scope creep (or the gradual elimination of project boundaries as a result of the expansion of project size, scope, and budget, often because of an excess in change requests or additions to the scope of work), we can avoid many such issues by creating comprehensive design plans and construction drawings. And, we can warn clients of unintended consequences of a request so they can make an informed decision.
In the end, the process is less stressful, the budgetary spending more strategic, and the finished result more cohesive when working with an interior designer.
